About us
Our campaigns

Hammersmith and Fulham Friends of the Earth campaigns on a wide range of issues.

Make your voice heard - join us in:

Improving recycling and waste minisation:

We wrote letters, asked the public to send a message in a plastic bottle to Tony Blair and attended a parliamentary lobby to support the Household Waste Recycling Bill.
We have urged members of the group and the public to oppose the UK’s largest incinerator being planned in East London to burn Hammersmith’s waste.
We have responded to local council recycling plans and scrutinised council policy. We have also taken part in the Children’s Parliament run by The Hammersmith Urban Centre educating children about recycling.

Providing better public transport, cycling and walking facilities for all:

We were involved in organising and participating in the Car Free  Day Festivals hosted locally. We have been campaigning to  ‘Save the Mail Trains’ and to increase funding for trains.

Promoting Real Food:

We have prepared a Local Real Food Guide which describes where to buy and eat fairly traded organic food. This is published on our website. We have taken part in a nation wide apple survey to find out how many markets, supermarkets and greengrocers selling UK-grown and organic apples.

            Keeping Britain GM Free:

We organised a stall where we had incredible support, 300 letters were written by the public to the local council, the General London Assembly (GLA) and Department for Environment, Food, & Rural Affairs(DEFRA)  in support of the GM Free Britain campaign. We had sponsorship from 15 local businesses for our campaign. We held several stalls throughout the summer asking people to contact their MPs and promoting participation in the national GM debate.

 Other Issues:

In the last 12 months we have undertaken Stop ESSO Days of Action, marches against runway 3, have campaigned for the Corporate Responsibility Bill and worked to further the cause of the environment in many other ways
