In February of 2002 the centre was designated a Site of Special
Scientific Interest (SSSI), supporting nationally important numbers of

Where
else can teachers get local support for school projects from?
You could try the
Hammersmith Urban Studies Centre. It's role is an educational one,
emphasising skills for learning about all aspects of the local urban
environment. Schools come to the Centre for a range of experiences
which focus on an active study of the local area and contact with a
range of people from the local community. All projects are linked to
National Curriculum targets.

Are
there any environmentally friendly ways to raise funds for our school?
Yes, The Farmers Choice project
provides a box scheme service that runs in 70 London schools already.
It's a non-profit division of Abel and Cole box scheme company. The
idea is very simple: each week, the school is supplied with bags of
freshly harvested organic fruit and vegetables. Parents and teachers
participate by signing up for a bag; when they collect it, they pay
for the next week, so there is no hassle or wastage. The bags are very
good value for money and prices start at an accessible £5. The school
receives 25% of the price of each bag, with 40% going straight to the
farmer.
