agenda 21Local Agenda 21 in Hammersmith and Fulham - Agenda 21 was originally agreed at the Rio Earth Summit held in 1992. This group work at a local community based level to work towards a more sustainable way of life for all.

Hammersmith Council Hammersmith and Fulham CouncilThe council has public information points at Hammersmith Town Hall and Fulham Town Hall and also runs an advice centre in Shepherds Bush.  Look at the Environment Pages area for some specific environmental info.

Thames Strategy Kew to Chelsea The Thames Strategy on 20 June. The Strategy provides a thorough analysis of the issues and a host of ideas for action. 

Furnish, the Hammersmith and Fulham community furniture store, provides furniture for those people on a low income who are being re-housed into permanent accommodation in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Furnish is looking for re-usable household furniture still in sound condition adn will collect from your house.

Hammersmith Garden CommunityHammersmith Community Garden Association  

Godolphin Road Community Gardens is a small 0.8 hectare garden that was a war-time bomb-damaged site in the middle of a residential area. Run by Hammersmith Community Gardens Association it received a Green Pennant Award in 2003. A sculpture of the Green Man, created for the Millennium celebrations watches over the events that take place in the garden including an annual summer music festival a community composting scheme and a children's play area.

The Hammersmith Community Garden Association (HCGA), which was formed in 1994 with a merger of Loris Road Community Garden (20 years old) and Godolphin Road Community Garden (16 years old). 

HCGA is one of the nine partners in the Shepherds Bush Healthy Living Centre, and is engaged in partnership work with Sure Start, borough schools and nurseries and Ealing Hammersmith & West London College.

HCGA is nearing completion of its Eco Shed development at Loris Road and is working towards a third site, developing a community garden and food growing area jointly with St. Mungos at Oakland House.

For Londoners with Gardens why not participate in the London Wildlife Trusts Gardeners survey. Let the trust know about several species and whether you've seen them recently in your garden (sparrows, stag beetles, frogs, blackbirds, robins, blackbirds, long tailed tits, wren, climbing Ivy)                               

Community City Farms and Gardens
City farms and community gardens are community-managed projects working with people, animals and plants.  They range from tiny wildlife gardens to fruit and vegetable plots on housing estates, from community polytunnels to large city farms. Find out where the nearest one is to you.

London Natural History Society The society arranges various indoor meetings which range from presentations by distinguished naturalists to informal sessions where members bring slides or specimens and consult experts on identification. Field meetings are held every weekend and occasionally mid-week. You do not need a car to be a member of the group.
